Minnie Matilda Stewart Barr was born 30 Mar 1870 in Banbridge, County Down, Northern Ireland.

Minnie Matilda Stewart Barr was the daughter of Robert Barr and Essy Geddis.

Minnie married George Robert Phillips in the last quarter of 1891 in Banbridge, County Down, Ireland.

In the 1901 Census of Ireland she is listed in the household of her husband George.

In 1920 she came to Canada.  

In the 1921 Census of Canada she is living with her husband George and 5 of their children in Toronto, Ontario.

In 1927 she is on a list of Outward Passengers on the Montcalm from Belfast to Canada, and again on the Canada Passenger list for her arrival in Quebec. 

She had been living at 33 Victoria Avenue, Newtownards and it appears her husband was still at that address.  Her daughter had paid her passage.

In 1946 she took an airplane (Pan American Airways) to the USA, on her way to Toronto, Ontario to join her daughter Mrs. Mitchell. Her husband, George Thomas Phillips was with her on the flight. Her last residence was Bangor Road, Newtownards, Ireland.

She is listed as 5 ft 7 inches tall, with a fair complexion, grey hair and blue-grey eyes.  She was able to read and write.

Minnie Matilda Stewart (Barr) Phillips died 27 May 1964 in Orillia, Ontario, Canada.
